People could easily describe paging devices to be things of the past as nowadays in the modern age mobile devices look set to outnumber human beings.

Pagers often beat mobile phones as they provide efficiency by getting a message to someone quickly in a very effective way.

If the recipient doesn’t respond immediately pagers can receive the same message constantly.

There are two myths. One myth to dismiss is that pagers are just a one-way form of communication however two-way versions have been widely available. It is true that most pagers are still designed for one-way communication

Another dismissible myth is that mobile phones were intended to compete against pagers as they serve different purposes.

Pagers provide less interference with signals than mobile phones which means you are a lot more likely to receive a message via a paging device in areas where mobile phones may not get any signal.

A great advantage is that pagers use very or ultra high frequency (VHF or UHF) radio signals which are transmitted in a range very similar to FM Radio programs.

This means the signals travel further and fewer transmitters are needed.

Essentially pagers are extremely useful in environments like hospitals where mobile phone signals could interfere with vital medical equipment. You can now understand why so many emergency workers ie mountain/sea rescue crews etc rely so much more on paging devices as they are very reliable.
